Our Story

With Love... and Italchos.

After 15 years in the restaurant business, owner Jeannie Terilli took a hiatus from the hustle of the food industry and started her own landscape company. After digging 5-gallon holes in the Texas summer heat, she seriously reconsidered her decision. Still uncertain, she flipped a coin to decide whether or not to go back into the restaurant business, asking God to control the coin in the air and land it with her fate. Heads for opening a restaurant, tails for continuing to dig those holes. The coin landed heads and Jeannie went back into the restaurant business naming it after her family name, Terilli. Thus Terilli's Restaurant was born. 

Jeannie wanted to serve pizza but decided against this because of her family and friends currently in the pizza business.  In the past, she sold so many nachos in her previous restaurant, she decided to create her own version of pizza and created a pizza chip, which became a registered trademark today called the “Italchos.” The chips are made fresh daily in house from a special recipe.  Haven’t tried them? Here at Terilli's all of our patrons are considered family. Our restaurant is owned and operated by members of the Terilli family.

Terilli's History

The Terilli Family originated in Esperia, Italy. Pietro (Peter) Terilli (Papa T) lived with his Father, Luigi Terilli, and Mother, Filomena Ciavolella, his Sisters, Emillia and Maria, and Brothers, Michael, Joseph, and Antonio. The Family all lived together in the village of Esperia, Italy, where they owned a small vineyard, stomped their own grapes and made their own wine. 

Some of the Terilli Family traveled to America by boat and settled in New York City while the other Terilli's still reside in Italy today. The Family owned and operated a Restaurant and Grocery Store underneath an elevated subway across the street from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.  Peter Terilli lived in Little Italy and delivered groceries by bicycle, at age 12, from the Terilli's owned Grocery Store. 

Peter Terilli enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 19 and was stationed in Phoenix, Arizona.  He met and married Vada Murr, on September 9, 1944. The Couple moved to Dallas, Texas, after the birth of their first son, James Louis Terilli. Peter and Vada had 3 more children, Gloria Jean Terilli, John Michael Terilli, and Joseph Peter Terilli.  

Jeannie opened Terilli's Restaurant on Lower Greenville in 1985 and the concept was fun Italian. Terilli's is now considered a mainstay in the Dallas Restaurant Industry. Terilli's is owned and operated by Jeannie Terilli, Joey Terilli, and Amanda Terilli Loyd.
